《Mutualism - wave II》
Yan-Ze Luo is an artist who uses plastic as his leading artistic practice.
In addition to focusing on the expression of colour, his creative techniques reconnect to the accumulated memories of hands, such as collage, composition and turning screws. These practices play a crucial role in recalling the building blocks and toy robots that are often designed for boys — in contrast to the attractive appearance of jewellery and its decorative function that often endows with femininity. By combining the two metaphors, the artworks raise the questions of the conservative gender characteristics and its binary. Therefore, it returns to the queer condition that the artist has been dealing with.
